Bone Grafting in Hurstville
When you need to replace a missing tooth or extracted tooth, a dental implant can transform your smile beautifully. These restorations, however, require a patient to have sufficient jawbone for successful implantation. Bone grafting can help restore the volume and density of your jawbone.
With this simple procedure, we can replace bone in the jaw so a dental implant can be placed. This surgical procedure can help the body to regenerate bone on its own.
What to Expect
- Evaluation
Dr Chammas (Dentist) will review your teeth, jaw and skull and discuss your needs and the desired outcome. A 3D cone beam radiographic scan is used to determine if you need a graft. - Procedure
To minimise any discomfort during the procedure, we will provide local anaesthetic. If you have severe dental anxiety, we also offer general anaesthetic. Dr Chammas will make an incision to expose the bone of your jaw, then graft new bone material to it. Your bone creates new bone cells surrounding the grafted material, building up bone where you need it. - Healing Time
The graft should heal in 6-9 months. According to some studies, this procedure has a high success rate with the top-quality materials that are used today.
